Event description

Description

Board governance, and its inherent organizational structure, is essential to the long-term success and sustainability of any nonprofit organization. However, a strong board is dependent on the stage of an organization’s life-cycle AND the strength of the staff. This workshop will introduce 5 primary board structures and participants will work through a series of exercises to:

  • Identify their organization’s current board structure

  • Identify the structure that would best serve the organization at this time

  • Identify the structure that will be best for the near future

  • Identify the responsibilities of the board, staff, committee and volunteers unique to each

Presenter: Ann Mosey has worked in the nonprofit sector for more than twenty years. She founded five nonprofit organizations that are still thriving after 10 years, was executive director of three successful nonprofits, taught arts administration courses at several colleges, and continues to work as a freelance consultant supporting the important work of the nonprofit sector. Ann most recently served as the Minnesota Council for Nonprofits representative for southeast Minnesota and was instrumental in supporting nonprofits throughout our area.
