Event description

Description

Join Nomadic Press authors Arisa White, Juliana Delgado Lopera, Natasha Dennerstein, Mk Chavez, and René Vaz at UCSF's Milberry Union Event and Meeting Center as they lead focused workshop groups around mental health maintenance and creative practice in what continues to be trying times for many of us.

The evening will open with a short panel moderated by J. K. Fowler, Founder and Executive Director of Nomadic Press, after which we will break into five separate small groups with each workshop group led by an author.

Here are just some of the topics that will be covered during the author-led focus groups:

- Out of Mind, Into Body: Somatic-based Writing Techniques
- Queers Rewrite: Intersectional Identities and Mental Health
- Owning My Diagnosis: Writing As a Person Living with Depression/ Schizophrenia/Bipolar
- PTSD and Decolonizing Trauma
- Self-care Toolkits
- Writing As Confession: Insertion of the "I" and "Me" as Resistance

Dinner is provided. The event is free for all to attend and is sponsored by UCSF's GPSA/Student Life and co-organized by the Multicultural and LGBT Resource Centers in the Office of Diversity and Outreach, GPSA/Student Life, and Nomadic Press. Folks from across disciplines are welcome, including mental health and/or creative backgrounds.
