When & Where
Humane Society of Louisiana
The Humane Society of Louisiana protects and defends animals from cruelty, neglect, exploitation and mistreatment. Through our cruelty investigatiion, crime prevention, education and animal care programs, we promote nonviolence and compassion for all animals statewide.
Founded in New Orleans in 1988, the Humane Society of Louisiana leads the fight against cruelty to animals statewide. Our direct care programs have touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of animals. We are a grassroots animal protection charity with a small staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. We are not an affiliate of any larger group; we receive no tax funding, and we rely on private donations for support. Our campaign headquarters are located in New Orleans, and we have purchased property in Mt. Hermon in Washington parish, where we will operate the state's largest no-kill animal sanctuary.
