The Carr Center @ NOEL NIGHT ...

We kick off our 18th Annual MSU Jazz in Detroit series on Noel Night. The MSU Jazz Orchestra will perform in concert with Kenny Washington, one of the premiere drummers of our time. For the better part of the last twenty-five years, Mr. Washington has perhaps been known the ultimate New York City trio drummer.

He has appeared in the trios of Kenny Barron, Billi Charlap, Benny Green and Richard Wyands. Over the years he has also been associated with Betty Carter, Sonny Stitt, Lionel Jackson, Milt Jackson, Phil Woods and many others.

He is also a renowned Jazz Historian who currently teaches drums at the prestigious Julliard School of Music.

Wash, will perform this FREE concert as part of Detroit's NOEL NIGHT Festivities with the 20 piece MSU Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Rodney Whitaker.

This concert will take place in Detroit's midtown district: :
