Event description

Description

Join us for our next bi-monthly peer learning exchange focused on the role of arts and culture in planning and rezoning processes. Arts and culture are well suited to bring new voices to the table and as a medium for expressing community-based values. Neighborhood leaders, residents, artists and organizations also want to play an active role as part of community coalitions advocating for equity in rezoning processes. Hear from a few who have gone through the process and what they’ve learned along the way. Then we’ll have a discussion. We’ll also share the Blueprint for Culturally Healthy Communities, a tool developed by El Puente in partnership with Hester Street, Arts & Democracy and NOCD-NY, which you can introduce in your own neighborhood.

Guests to spark the conversation:

Frances Lucerna
Co-Founder and Executive Director
El Puente

Catherine Green
Founder and Executive Director
ARTs East New York

Ana Chireno
Director, Government and Community Affairs
