Event description

Description

The perspective-shifting motivational speech and self-esteem boost you didn't know you needed...

Are you stuck in a cycle of kowtowing to donors' demands and then falling over yourself to be grateful for any scrap they give you?Are you tired of letting your funders set the terms and feeling that you have no recourse but to accept them as is?Do you feel that your work is consistently devalued or misunderstood by the "corporate world"? You are not alone, and it's not your fault. This is the elitist, patriarchal system that most of us in the nonprofit world have found ourselves trapped in.

But in order for it to change, all nonprofit leaders must wake up to the value our organizations unleash in the world, own the power we possess as leaders, and accept the necessity of negotiating for what our work actually requires and deserves.

Jessica gives Executive Directors, Directors of Development and enlightened Board members the (friendly) kick in the pants they need to imagine, create and enact the rules of a new, more equitable game.By examining the dynamics at play within each funding stream (individuals, corporations and foundations), Jessica provides real world tactics, tips and tools for managing them and asking for what your organization truly needs to be successful.

Key Takeaways:

  • The dynamics at play within funder/nonprofit relationships
  • The mental shift necessary to manage and overcome them
  • Specific tactics within each funding category to achieve greater fundraising success

This workshop will be presented by Jessica James of Jessica James Consulting

Area of Excellence: Fundraising and Resource Development
