Event description

Description

This November, join the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network and Child Advocacy Centers across the state by growing out your beard for a good cause! You won’t want to miss this fun celebration of law enforcement, CAC supporters, and the work of CACs to bring hope and healing to kids all across the Mountain State.

Pay the $25 registration fee, select which CAC you want the money to go towards, and stop shaving on November 1st. That's it!

Informational cards will be available to hand out to the public when asked why you aren't clean shaven that month. A link will be provided on the card for them to learn more about the fundraiser and how they can donate towards your challenge. The more money raised to support your beard-growing, the better. Prizes will be awarded for "Best Beard" and "Most Money Raised" at the end of the challenge.*

You can get copies of the informational cards at your local CAC or at the WVCAN offices.

*Law enforcement officers may not solicit funds while in uniform and are subject to the WV Ethics Commission Title 158 Series 7 rule on solicitation of charitable contributions.

Thank you to our sponsors!

WHAT A CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER DOES:

A CAC is a child-friendly facility with staff that works to provide children and families professional, compassionate care in order to reduce the trauma often experienced by children that are victims of abuse. Rather than having a child taken from agency to agency to endure multiple interviews, the CAC model brings the system to the child for an effective, child-centered, healing process. The CAC works within a multidisciplinary model that includes child protection, law enforcement and other treatment professionals with the goal of holding offenders accountable and facilitating healing for the child. Families are never charged for services at the CAC.

WHAT WVCAN DOES:

WVCAN provides statewide leadership in the fight against child abuse while working side-by-side with the 21 Child Advocacy Centers throughout the state. WVCAN is the voice of local CACs in public policy debates. We educate lawmakers, bringing issues of national importance and local impact to their attention. We keep our member Centers informed about trends and best practices that help minimize trauma for abused children, break the cycle of abuse, and hold offenders accountable.
