No Place Like Home: Navigating the Multi-Jurisdictional Housing Crisis in BC
British Columbia’s housing crisis is exacting a heavy toll—locking out a generation of first-time buyers, pushing rents beyond reach for low- and moderate-income households, and driving up homelessness and displacement among the province’s most vulnerable. These immediate and deeply human impacts are symptoms of a far more complex problem. The housing crisis is not isolated to any one jurisdiction or sector—it is a decades-in-the-making, multi-sectoral, multi-jurisdictional challenge that touches municipal zoning, provincial policy, federal investment, and non-profit service delivery. Addressing it demands sustained, coordinated action from governments, Indigenous communities, developers, and civil society alike. Without structural alignment and long-term commitment across these entities, lasting solutions will remain elusive.
This panel convenes housing experts, community leaders, and policymakers to confront the critical question: how can we foster durable, cross-sectoral partnerships to drive housing innovation and equity across BC? What governance models, policy tools, and community-led approaches are needed to build housing ecosystems that are inclusive, resilient, and just—for today, and for the decades ahead?
Join us for a forward-looking, collaborative conversation that recognizes housing as more than a market problem—it’s a shared responsibility.
