Event description
NJCEDV 19th Annual (Virtual) Conference: Reimagining Justice

About this event

Join us for this two-day virtual conference, Reimagining Justice. Together, we will work to transform our response to domestic violence, increase access for marginalized communities, and promote healing for survivors, families, and communities.

We are excited to announce our Keynote Speakers!

On the first day, Zoe Flowers will help open our conference with Racial Justice is Healing Justice. Ensuring safety and security for all survivors requires an organizational and personal commitment to racial justice, healing, and repair. This dynamic workshop will lead participants through a collaborative process of naming organizational patterns of white supremacy, anti-Blackness, and xenophobia and enabling cultures of wellness, belonging and organizational growth and transformation.

Raven Freeborn, LCSW, CNP, will lead us in the second day with A Doula’s Impression of the Movement: Quickening and the Reckoning

To “doula” is to bear witness to the emergence of unfolding multigenerational change. At each moment in the witnessing of life’s transitional passages, the doula is shifting the conditions of “what is” to hold space for the welcoming of “what will be.” Here we are at a moment in the movement to end violence when the unfolding has begun. As with the voyage of birth, every moment in the pursuit of justice and elimination of societal oppression is deeply sacred to our transformation. Advocates at this time who are dedicated to the elimination of conditions that uphold the persistence of domestic, sexual, and community violence are invited to engage fully in the unfolding and tend to the processes for collaborative care. Many of us have answered the curious call to integrate Restorative and Transformative Justice processes and practices as fundamental components of the architecture of social change. In our efforts to resolve and redesign agencies and programs for the benefit of survivors and their families we must first get in the right position to accelerate our individual, community, and societal reckoning. May we all feel this collective quickening and speak honestly of the reckoning for the greatest good.

Additional workshops will include Survivor Entrepreneurship; Reimagining Leadership; Culturally Responsive Trauma Informed Care, Accountability in Action, Structural Racism & Poverty: When Caring Isn’t Enough and more!

This two-day virtual event will also feature wellness sessions, giveaways, and community conversations. We look forward to seeing you there!
