Uncover the rich history of the Native American Tribes in New Jersey from the early 1200’s to present. The class will highlight the connections between present day American and Native American culture and language as well as discuss the misconceptions and stereotypes which were and still are promoted by inaccurate Hollywood portrayals of Native American Indians.
Claire Garland is the Director of the Sand Hill Indian Historical Association and has been developing and presenting Native American cultural exhibits on the Sand Hill Indians and the Lenape Indians all over New Jersey since retiring as a middle school teacher after 35 years. Ms. Garland has a B.S. from Monmouth College and a M.Ed. from Rutgers University.
