Share NIH's Data Sharing Policy: How to Write a Data Sharing Plan

Event Details

Part of being a good scientific citizen is sharing your research data - plus, it's a requirement for many NIH grant recipients!  If you're applying for more than $500,000 per year in direct costs, your application must include a data sharing plan.  Even if you're not required to submit a formal plan, it's a good idea to think ahead about what will happen to your data in the long term.

This session will introduce you to what you need to know if you receive NIH funding, including:

  • an overview of NIH policies and requirements relevant to data sharing,
  • what kind of info should be included in a plan,
  • how to use the DMPTool to support NIH,
  • where to find additional help.

Taught by Lisa Federer, Research Informationist at the UCLA Biomedical Library. Class meets in UCLA Biomedical Library Classroom, August 28, 2013, 12-1 pm.  Please RSVP to reserve your space.

The Library is also pleased to announce that participants can join us remotely via Elluminate!  You will need a web browser with the most recent version of Java installed; if you select the webinar option, you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to connect.

This workshop is the part of the Biomedical Library's Data Wednesdays series.  Join us the fourth Wednesday of every month to learn about a topic related to research data management.
