The Office of Grant Support Presents Grant Writing Workshop "NIH-Ready: R-Series Training"

About this Event

Dear Faculty Members,

Are you having trouble obtaining an NIH grant? Perhaps you’re preparing to write your R01 submission? Or you’re planning to submit your first grant application in a while.

Any of these scenarios can seem daunting. To help sharpen your grant-writing skills and improve the outcome of your efforts, the office of grant support has invited Dr. Meg Bouvier for a daylong NIH Grant-Writing Workshop, on October 29, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Dr. Bouvier also will discuss some of the recent changes in the NIH grant application process, especially concerning the “Rigor and Transparency” Section.

Dr. Bouvier has helped clients land over $280 million in federal funding. She currently advises two of the three top-ranked hospitals; three of the top six cancer hospitals; and three of the five top-ranked medical schools for research in the country. She has deep knowledge of the NIH, having worked as a staff writer for current NIH director Dr. Francis Collins when he directed the Human Genome Project and NHGRI. Prior to that, she was a postdoctoral fellow at NINDS and received her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She has owned Meg Bouvier Medical Writing, LLC since 2007.

Our workshop is offered in two segments:

  • In the morning, attend Dr. Bouvier’s half-day presentation, aimed at helping you write a sophisticated, polished Research Strategy that will correspond with the latest NIH trends and policies. Packed with tips, templates, strategies, and samples from recently-funded NIH submissions, her highly interactive presentation will help improve all of your submissions going forward.
  • In the afternoon, meet one-on-one (or in a small groups) with Dr. Bouvier during 30- or 60-minute sessions, where you’ll receive targeted advice concerning your specific circumstances and needs. You will be assigned to one-one-one or a group depending on your writing sample and professional rank/level. Please see further details below.
