Event Details

Speaker:

Christy Chang, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, UMSOM

Dr. Chang is the recipient of several NIH R01 awards for her work on the genetics of complex disorders. Dr. Chang has also served as an NIH reviewer as well as a grant writing coach within National Research Mentoring Network. Dr. Chang combines these two perspectives to give junior faculty insights into how to write a competitive grant application. In the current funding climate, when rates are low, it is crucial to develop an application that does more than present the facts. Thus, Dr. Chang goes beyond the basics of presenting data to providing a scientific story based on the data. The ability to get reviewers interested in your scientific story is the key to a fundable grant.
