Event description

Description

Redeemer City Church DC is thrilled to host the 3rd Annual Night to Shine. We continue to be humbled and amazed by the way God has grown the worldwide movement of Night to Shine, sponsored by The Tim Tebow Foundation. Volunteer opportunities are available to anyone who wishes to "Stand with Us" in love and in support of celebrating people with special needs. Our greatest need is to have volunteers serve as buddies to our honored guests and to help us ensure a safe and enjoyable prom night.

Thank you, in advance for making Night to Shine so amazing and for giving so many of God's beloved children the opportunity to truly shine.

God Bless,

Redeemer City Church D.C.

NIGHT TO SHINE is a night not only for guests to shine, but for churches to shine, for volunteers to shine, and most importantly for Christ to shine. Night To Shine is:

  • A worldwide movement sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation;

  • Changing Valentine's Day weekend from a celebration of love, to a celebration of God's love for people with special needs;

  • An unforgettable prom night experience;

  • A celebration of the value of life;
  • A night when all honorary guests are made kings and queens of the prom; and

  • Held simultaneously on one night around the world... FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 09, 2018

VOLUNTEER SCREENING & BACKGROUND CHECK

All registered volunteers are subject to undergo a background check for the public safety of the honorary guests. Volunteers are screened to verify identity, criminal history check and sex offender registries check. SecureSearch, will conduct the background checks.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - MANDATORY TRAINING SESSIONS

Volunteers will be given an overview/vision of Night to Shine, descriptions of the volunteer roles and expectations, learn how to best interact with individuals with special needs, and have an opportunity for Q's & A's. Volunteers are required to attend at least one training session, however, we strongly encourage you to attend all three sessions if possible.

Session I - Thursday, January 25, 2018 ~ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Session II - Thursday, February 1, 2018 ~ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Session III - Wednesday, February 7, 2018 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

LOCATION: Union City Church 3633 18TH ST, NE Washington, D.C. 20018 (Entrance off of Otis Street).

VOLUNTEER DRESS ATTIRE

Volunteer attire is determined at the discretion of Redeemer City Church DC. We recommend volunteer 'buddies' dress in modest semi-formal or formal wear so that honorary guests feel like they are at prom with friends rather than being chaperoned by volunteers. All other volunteers can wear clothing suited to their role (i.e. scrubs for medical personnel, white shirt and black pants for food services, etc.). All volunteers are required to wear nametags.

NIGHT TO SHINE - AVAILABLE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES (Roles and Descriptions)

TRANSPORTATION ESCORTS - Assist honored guests as they arrive in their vehicles, and escort them to the red carpet area. Escorts will need to also be available as honored guests exit the event and return to their vehicles following the closing of the event.

SOCIAL MEDIA PHOTOGRAPHERS - Take high quality photos and short videos for social media platforms. Volunteers will follow content guidelines set by the Tim Tebow Foundation and use official #NighttoShine hashtags. Note: We may ask social media photographers to text their photos and videos to the Tim Tebow Foundation’s marketing team during the event for use in our socialmediathon.

RED CARPET PAPARAZZI - Take photographs of the honored guests and treat them like celebrities as they walk the red carpet area and make their grand entrance into the Night to Shine event.

BUDDY - Accompany the honored guests (assigned to you) throughout the evening, providing companionship and any assistance they may need during the event. You will be their dance partner and expected to sit with the honored guests during dinner and engage with them in casual conversation. We require volunteer buddies to be at least 16 years old. (OUR GREATEST NEED IS FOR BUDDIES - WE NEED 125+ PEOPLE)

HAIR STYLIST & MAKE-UP ARTIST - Provide honored guests with hair styling touch-ups and make-up. We request volunteers to be professionals or from a career institute.

SHOE SHINERS - Assist with the shoe shine area setup and provide shoe shining services to the honored guests. Chat with them while you pamper them and make them feel extra special.

TEAR DOWN TEAM - Take down decorations, tables, chairs, etc. and clean up the event space.

PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE (EVENTBRITE.COM) IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING FOR ONE OF THESE ROLES.
