A 6 hour training event with Michael Gaudet, LICSW, LDCP

PRESENTATION: This course will provide an updated version of the NIDA and SAMHSA’s Blending Initiative product, originally entitled “Buprenophine Treatment: A Training for Multidisciplinary Professionals”. The primary goal of this training package is to create awareness among addiction professionals about medications currently approved by the FDA and used in the treatment of opioid dependence. The course includes information about what to expect when someone is treated with medication, information about the legislation that permits office based buprenorphine treatment, the science of addiction, the mechanism of each medication, patient selection criteria and associated patient counseling and therapeutic issues. As a result of this training participants will:

  • Learn about the history of opioid treatment in the United States;
  • Discuss changes in the laws regarding treatment of opioid addiction and the implications for the treatment system;
  • Learn how medication will benefit the delivery of opioid treatment and the types of medications used to treat opioid use disorder; and
  • Possess knowledge about the demographics of people affected by opioid use disorder.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Michael Gaudet LICSW earned his undergraduate degree in 1981 at Bridgewater State College and his MSW from Rhode Island College in 1984. Mike has extensive clinical, management and administrative experience in the field of behavioral health and is a surveyor for CARF International. He trains and consults across the country on clinical and professional growth topics, including CARF accreditation preparation and, since 1986, is a faculty member of the New England Institute of Addiction Studies. He has been involved in several projects designed to advance the use of medication in the recovery from substance use disorders, including the use of Methadone, Buprenorphine and Naltrexone, through the Addiction Technology Transfer Center of New England.

FAQs for sponsored trainings

What is this application process for?

Network4Health is pleased to sponsors or reimburse training registrations for particular events. We generally sponsor a limited number of seats, and this process allows us to track who is interested in attending so that we are able to accurately know whom we are paying for.

Does Network4Health reserve seats at these trainings?

We do not reserve seats for trainings. Network4Health has funds earmarked for education. We choose trainings to sponsor that are mission specific to the waiver. N4H will reimburse attendees’ organizations after they have attended said training.

Once I fill out this form, does that mean I am registered for the event?

No, it means you are pre-registered. This is only the first step (expressing your interest in accessing payment/reimbursement for registration costs only).

Why does Network4Health make me complete Eventbrite registrations?

Consider the N4H Eventbrite process a pre-registration. N4H gathers your information for the DSRIP waiver. This information is used to track mission specific trainings being offered as well as the attendees that are afforded the opportunity to attend the trainings. Please note that attendees are responsible for registering directly with training vendors.

How do I register for the event itself?

Each event/vendor is different. Once an individual has completed this registration process, an automatic email with specific instructions on how to register for the actual event will be sent out to the email address the registrant/s provided to us. Specific instructions can be found both on the N4H Eventbrite we use as event pre-registration and also in the confirmation email.

Will I have to pay upfront and get reimbursed later?

You may be required to pay upfront. Each vendor is different. Some require payment upfront to confirm a seat while others work with N4H allowing us to pay for your seat once the training has concluded. Please note that the N4H Eventbrite listing for the training you are seeking will provide details pertaining to the specific training and
