Want to share how you’ve been using NGINX? Have your say on future features? Talk one-on-one with other users and the Nginx Inc. team? Or maybe you're new to NGINX and want to learn more about its many uses and applications.
For those of you who are newer to NGINX, we’ll host our first "NGINX Fundamentals" course on Tuesday morning. For those of you staying for the user summit, lunches will be provided.
Our afternoon user summit will kick off at 2pm with an opening talk from NGINX founder, Igor Sysoev. The enlightenment continues with lightning talks from our community members and an in-depth discussion from Yichun Zhang on his recent work with NGINX modules, this is going to be a great gathering of NGINX users to discuss the future of application delivery.
After all the content, stick around for some snacks and social time with other users and the Nginx Inc. team. Drinks will be free thanks to MaxCDN.
Proceeds from the afternoon summit will be donated to The Open Source Initiative (OSI).

5:15pm - Yichun Zhang (agentzh) of CloudFlare - NGINX, Lua, and Beyond
Let’s walk through the basic features and use cases of my most popular plugins which are also packaged into the OpenResty bundle. The highlight will be the ngx_lua module upon which complicated NGINX extensions and even complete web applications can be easily built.
I will also touch on how ngx_lua is powering millions of request per second at CloudFlare as well as how I ensure reliability with the Test::Nginx test scaffold and the associated NGINX test cluster running atop Amazon EC2 for automated testing.
Last is an overview of CloudFlare's dynamic tracing tools based on systemtap used for production profiling and troubleshooting both NGINX and LuaJIT.
6:00pm - Social time with drinks provided by MaxCDN
Why NGINX Fundamentals?
NGINX is a high performance, open source web application accelerator that helps more than 37% of the world's busiest websites deliver more content, faster, to its users. NGINX Fundamentals is a hands-on course in which you will learn to install, configure, and maintain NGINX. Not only will you learn to set up NGINX, but you will learn about common use cases like secure downloads, GeoIPLookups, and load balancing to name only a few. In the spirit of learning by doing, the course will take you step-by-step through the setup process and in the end you will finish up with a complete basic NGINX Setup. This course is hands-on so bring your laptop and prepare to go to work. This hands-on workshop covers both the open source and commercial versions (NGINX Plus) of NGINX.
