About this event

Venue :Verhuellweg 120

Time: September, 02, 2022

The National Federation of Teachers (NFT) of the Netherlands is inviting everyone, students and parents, to attend our awareness-raising event on Future. This event brings together all stakeholders in education around a central topic that has become increasingly relevant in recent years: the future of schools and teaching. Our aim is to give participants insight into what is being done by other European countries and at what pace globally. We hope to find out from educators from Europe as well as from a student perspective how much we can learn from other countries’ experiences regarding everything related to schools & teaching.

We hope you will join us for an interesting evening discussing schools, careers and the future of teaching.

The NFT is the junior education union of teachers in Dutch-speaking countries. We represent over 300,000 teachers from all education sectors and organize over 100 local education unions across Europe.

Articles like this are great examples of mobilizing the people around a common goal which is not only true but also speaks to the overarching themes that I was discussing in another post (I have to get more connections between these posts). This article is also a great example of an organization that is not only accepting but encouraging communication to be had around their own work. The NFT is seeing students as a part of the solution rather than being part of the problem. This is important because it helps to shift the tension away from what is wrong with education/students onto what we need to do about this. It also helps to push accountability further up and away from things like "the kids these days", which are damaging in their own right, onto more nuanced, descriptive levels such as "the way we teach" and "the academic system that we have".
