Event Details

Please join us for the NFPA Alternative Fuel Vehicles Safety Training Program – Tow Operator Edition. This course was created to provide guidance on how to safely deal with emergency situations involving alternative fuel passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, and commercial fleet vehicles.The recently revised training now covers electric, hybrid, fuel cell, and gaseous fuel vehicles, including CNG, LNG, and LPG. The program is FREE for a total of 50 participants. The following topics will be covered:

  • Introduction to AFVs
  • High Voltage & Gaseous Fuel System Properties
  • Scene Size-up & Response Types
  • Recovery & Towing Operations
  • Special Considerations for - Submerged Vehicles; AFV Fires; Damaged High Voltage Components; and, Damaged Gaseous Fuel Systems
  • Vehicle Loading & Transporting
  • Vehicle Storage
  • Field Evolutions — including actual AFVs

Central Florida Clean Cities Coalition

In an effort to prepare Florida’s first responders for emergencies involving alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), a consortium of Clean Cities Coalitions, through support of the US Department of Energy, is offering a workshop covering AFV Safety Training to tow operators. Tow operators from throughout Florida are invited to participate. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.
