Event description
OSFM is offering a free training to all local fire department AHJs to learn about the new code and its requirements.

About this Event

The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is updating the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101, Life Safety Code from the 2000 Edition to the 2015 Edition, effective January 1, 2020.

OSFM is offering free training to all local fire department AHJs to learn about the new code and its requirements. This OSFM adopted code serves as the state’s minimum fire safety standard. This new adoption contains options and allowances for recognized Home Rule Municipalities.

Attendance is limited to 35 persons. It should be noted that only employees of governmental agencies (local and state) will be permitted to attend. Each workshop contains the same information, and we ask each jurisdiction to only attend one date.

These trainings will be conducted by NFPA representatives providing information regarding the requirements of the 2015 Life Safety Code as well as changes implemented since the 2000 edition.

OSFM representatives will also be on hand to provide information specific to the newly adopted code and amendments as applies to Illinois. This includes language recognizing Home Rule Communities, and Code Equivalent options available to AHJs, among other things.

All registered attendees will receive a copy of the newly adopted NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, 2015 Edition.
