A 3-day program for mid-career nonprofit professionals ready to grow their ability to lead social change and better understand their role.

About this Event

The curriculum draws on Mission Capital’s extensive expertise and research in the nonprofit space in Central Texas and the rapidly evolving social sector. You’ll learn directly from Mission Capital leaders, who have vast knowledge and understanding of nonprofit effectiveness and leadership. Your experience in the Academy will be enriched by the collective wisdom of your classmates, and you’ll be challenged to think about yourself as an individual leader, an organizational leader and a system leader, who is equipped and empowered to create real and lasting social change.

Based on the belief that “learning and leadership are indispensable to each other” this comprehensive course focuses on your journey and growth as a valued leader in the social sector.

Class size is limited to allow you to address and learn from your classmates through problem-solving exercises, role-play, presentation, individualized coaching and group discussion. You’ll walk away with practical materials, real world advice, a cohort of peers and countless strategies to help you and your organization succeed.

Who Should Attend?

The Next Level Leadership Academy was designed for mid-career nonprofit professionals, or those looking to break into the nonprofit sector, who have some management experience and would like to step into a higher level of leadership.

If you don’t have any management experience or are already the top leader of your organization (Executive Director or CEO), visit our Events Page for information about out other Leadership Academies that may better meet your needs.

Attendees should have:

  • Responsibility for managing people, projects, funders, budgets, stakeholders, or teams
  • A demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development
  • A desire to strengthen yourself as a leader and advance the mission of your organization
  • Support from your manager to be out of the office for the three full day sessions during the program

This course includes:

  • Three full days of interactive learning, peer discussion and real-time coaching from area thought leaders and subject matter experts
  • The Next Level Leadership Academy Sourcebook of useful information, resources, tools, and worksheets that will help you to lead at a higher level
  • A TriMetrix EQ Assessment ($240 value) that will help you to better understand your leadership style, driving forces, strengths, and areas for growth. The Emotional Quotient portion of this assessment measures emotional intelligence, which is the ability to sense, understand, and effectively apply the power of emotions to facilitate higher level of collaboration and productivity.
  • Five individual coaching sessions with a certified professional coach focused on your specific professional development goals (Coaching is optional, and coaches will be matched with participants based on their interest and needs)
  • The opportunity to connect with and learn alongside other leaders in the nonprofit sector
  • Healthy lunches during each class day, as well as snacks and drinks to keep you energized

Program Structure & Learning Objectives

The Next Level Leadership Academy takes place over the course of three sessions and is organized on three primary learning objectives: individual leadership, organizational leadership, and system-wide/community leadership.

  • Month 1: Participants identify and learn to take advantage of their unique leadership style.
  • Month 2: Participants gain skills and confidence needed to lead within their organization.
  • Month 3: Participants understand community needs and their role in leading social change.

Over the course of these three sessions, you’ll participate in an individual leadership assessment, three full days of in-class learning and up to five individual coaching sessions. Participants should expect 2-4 hours of preparation outside of class each month. Your final assignment will be to complete an individual leadership development plan.


Robin LLewellyn

Robin is an experienced talent development and human resources professional with a background in leadership development and employee training.

Prior to working at Mission Capital, Robin owned and operated RLL Consulting, a talent development and management consulting firm. She also served as Senior Director of Talent and Development at Goodwill Central Texas. Robin holds a BFA from the University of Texas, an MFA from Florida State University, and utilizes her theater arts background to facilitate interactive trainings which focus on learning through “play.” Robin is TTI Success Insights DISC and TTI Success Insights Driving Forces certified. She uses these certifications to develop opportunities for professional development and personal growth.

Robin resides in Cedar Park, Texas where her son and daughter-in-law allow her to be the best playmate to their amazing son, Jax. In her spare time, she enjoys creating art by up-cycling glass and plastic.

Katie Popp

Katie is an expert in workplace culture with a passion for building effective, engaging, and fun organizations that people want to be a part of. In her work at Mission Capital, she provides strategic and consulting support in the areas of education, leadership training, and talent management.

Prior to joining Mission Capital, Katie spent 12 years with Great Place to Work Institute, most recently directing the firm’s Best Companies Lists program, including responsibility for the evaluation and selection of Fortune Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. She also served as the Development Associate for Habitat for Humanity San Francisco. Katie enjoys applying her knowledge of corporate workplace best practices in the nonprofit sector.

Katie holds a BA in Psychology from Southwestern University and a MA in Organization Development from St. Edwards University.

Mission Capital has a strong commitment to making our services accessible to individuals with special needs and disabilities. Two weeks’ notice will allow us to provide seamless access.


All cancellation and refund requests must be received in writing no later than two weeks prior to the Learning & Leadership offering. No refunds will be processed within 2 weeks of the event date. You may also transfer a registration to another staff member, board member, or volunteer with the approval of Mission Capital. All transfer requests must be received in writing no later than one week prior to the event date. Note: all refunds are subject to a $50 administrative fee that will be deducted from the amount originally paid.
