StartupWeekend Next comes to Amsterdam!
SWNext Amsterdam starts on Wednesday 28th of November and ends after 6 in depth experential sessions on Saturday December 15th. The sessions take place from 6-9 PM on Wednesdays and 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays. In between the startups will attend the Steve Blank video course on Udacity.com and work hard to develop their ideas to a product market fit and potential customers willing to pay, or paying customers. In between sessions the teams get out of the building for interviewing their potential customers. The attendee expectations are:
- 6 in person meetups
- 15-20 hours of work outside of the “classroom” each week.
- Customer interviews (at least 10/wk)
- Mentor session (1x/wk)
- Online videos (3 30 min. videos/wk)

Startup Weekend is joining forces with Steve Blank and Udacity to bring you some the world’s most effective experiential entrepreneurship curriculum - Steve’s Lean Launch Pad curriculum (as taught at Stanford, Berkley, and Columbia) - customized and packaged into a 3-week in-person follow-on course to Startup Weekend.
Is NEXT Right for YOU?
NEXT is a 3-week long, in-person course which provides real world, hands-on learning on what it’s like to actually start a scalable company. This is not a class about how to write a business plan. It’s not an exercise on how smart you are in a classroom, or how well you use the research library to size markets. And the end result is not a PowerPoint slide deck for a VC presentation.
This is a practical class – essentially a lab, not a theory or “book” class - for teams of 2+ co-founders. Similar to Startup Weekend, NEXT creates an entrepreneurial experience with all of the pressures and demands of the real world in an early stage startup. Teams will be getting their hands dirty talking to customers, partners, competitors, as you encounter the chaos and uncertainty of how a customer-driven startup actually works - all aimed towards answering the question of how to turn a great idea into a great company. Co-founders will learn how practically apply business modelling to their company, and customer development to get out of the classroom to effectively test whether/how customers would use your product.
NEXT takes a ‘flipped classroom’ style of learning, where teams are expected to watch lectures and complete assignments between classes, while classtime itself takes a Facilitator-driven approach to sharing learnings and questioning results.

You do not need to have attended a Startup Weekend event to attend this course. You must, however, be part of a team of at least two people working on a startup or startup idea.

Arie den Boon is founder and CEO of April Analytics (2010). April Analytics coaches startups and advises advertisers and media buying companies. Arie is founder of StartupPush (with Paul Eikelenboom), founder of GfK Daphne (advertising performance dashboard, sold to GfK) and June Systems (software for real time performance dashboard, sold to GfK). Arie is visiting professor of the Department of Communication Science and organizer of the first MOOC of the University of Amsterdam.

Paul started his career in Database Marketing with Air Miles in the Netherlands. He developed the largest marketing database in the Netherlands availlable at that time. After consultancy jobs he started his own company in online marketing and worked for Mercedes, XS4ALL, Mexx, Martini and others. Paul prefers to work on no cure no pay basis. Paul developes concepts and rolls them out in the Netherlands and other countries. He introduced nReduce in the Netherlands and inititiated Startup Push, a programme for youngh startups

Fevci developed lot of brand sites and online campains for Mars Petcare brands. The sites were flexible so each country could adapt it to the local situation. Every campaign was scallabe by using Amazon Cloud.
