NewTechKids Spring 2017 AI and Robotics Bootcamp for 10-12 years (12 weeks)
Thu, April 6, 2017, 4:15 PM – 5:45 PM CEST
What do smart cars, video games and Virtual Personal Assistants like Apple's Siri have in common? They’re all examples of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which people use in everyday life.
During this bootcamp of twelve (12) weekly workshops, kids ages 10-12 will explore AI and robotics through computer science concepts such as automation, programming, algorithms, loops, if-else statements, Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, and design process.
We'll discuss how people are learning to work closely with machines and what this means for our everyday lives. Can we control AI? Should we be afraid of it or can it be used for good?
The bootcamp will include games, pen and paper activities, and designing and programming with LEGO Mindstorms and BBC Micro:bits.
The bootcamp is ideal for children with no previous exposure to computer science and those who have previously participated in NewTechKids programs. The goal of this bootcamp is to help kids develop computational thinking skills and provide a basic introduction to AI and machine learning.
Workshops will take place on Thursdays from 16:15 – 17:45 on the following dates:
- April 6, 13, 20
- May 11, 18
- June 1, 8, 15, 29
- July 6, 13, 20
NewTechKids promotes bilingual education and our workshops will be taught in a combination of Dutch and English.
A minimum of 16 students is required to offer this bootcamp. Registrants will be notified one week prior if the bootcamp is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.
