 Building Successful Collaborations

As nonprofit organizations are increasingly facing narrowing funding streams, collaborations have become more important than ever.  When nonprofits work together, their ability to expand their shared goals increases exponentially, allowing them to serve clients more efficiently and effectively.

This session will focus on initiating and sustaining shared processes among organizations. Using interactive exercises, we will explore:

  • how and why partners in an alliance must understand the broader system context
  • the drivers for initiating a partnership
  • the dynamics of the initial collaborative process.

Tina Nabatchi
is an Associate Professor of Public Administration and International Affairs and a Faculty Research Associate at the Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration. Her research focuses on collaborative governance, citizen participation, conflict resolution, and challenges in public administration.
