Event description

Description

Too often, it seems that political debate ends unsatisfactorily, with two sides shouting or speaking over each other. Deliberative dialogue, a structured conversation method from the National Issues Forum Institute, offers a new way forward for community and student leaders who want to lead conversations on difficult subjects to promote understanding and learning.

“Newark Talks the Talk,” is a three-part series of events designed to introduce the basics of deliberative dialogue and empower attendees use this method in their own activities. Nancy Kranich—a nationally recognized leader in conducting deliberative forums—will lead three sequential sessions that invite attendees to Experience, Learn, and Practice deliberative dialogue as they engage in discussions that explore complex issues our communities face.
