The mission of the Newark LGBTQ Film Festival is to amplify the voices, vision and works of film that would otherwise struggle to find a mainstream audience, but which have a significant impact in raising awareness around lives and issues of queer people and queer communities of color.
Opening Night Reception
We're kicking off our weekend-long event at the historic Newark Museum of Art! This opening reception is a free event for the community, but you must register to attend. Enjoy a custom LGBTQ film festival brew, some wine and yummy bites while you listen to the beats with your host Harmonica Sunbeam. Friday, April 14 - 5:30-7:00 pm
The Inspection + Panel Discussion
Following the reception will be the screening of our opening night feature, The Inspection. Afterwards, LGBTQ veterans will share the stage for a post-film discussion on LGBTQ equity in the military. Separate tickets are available for this event! Friday, April 14 - 7:15 pm
Additional film screenings, community activations and workshops will take place throughout Saturday and Sunday, April 15 & 16, taking place in multiple Newark venues.
