Women’s Economic Opportunity
A Solution for Trafficking in Persons
56th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)
The global economic crisis has adversely impacted economic opportunities for women. Migrant women from low-income countries have been particularly vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. Often engaging in work that has been historically undervalued, such as domestic work or other low-wage industries, this panel will explore various approaches to help women gain economic security. Anti-trafficking experts will discuss legal remedies, employment prospects, and opportunities for reinvesting in women.
