With the passage of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), New York has positioned itself as the nation’s leading state acting to tackle the climate crisis. If New York is to reach the ambitious goals of CLCPA, however, it will require an aggressive and economy-wide shift away from fossil fuels for electric power, transportation and heating and cooling, and other areas. But beyond the excitement of bringing the act into law, there remain many important questions:

How can New York really hit these targets in a way that ensures equity and economic prosperity? What will implementation look like and when do we begin the transition? Where will we have to innovate to successfully meet these goals? What is New York City doing to reduce its emissions? What roles do offshore wind and community solar play? How will we invest back into our communities?

All of these questions will be discussed with an expert panel of policy-makers and practitioners.

The panel will be moderated by Shara Mohtadi from Bloomberg Philanthropies and will feature:

Dale Bryk, Deputy Secretary for Energy & Environment, Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, State of New York

Susanne DesRoches, Deputy Director, Infrastructure + Energy, NYC Mayor's Office of Recovery & Resiliency and Office of Sustainability

Clint Plummer, Head of Market Strategies and New Projects - US at Ørsted

Juan Parra, Community Solar Program Manager, SolarOne

This event is part of Climate Week NYC. Light refreshments will be available.
