You are cordially invited to the most elegant New Year's Eve gathering around - for ten years running! Join us at the 2016 New Year's Eve Grand Ball for a time traveler's holiday. For this special evening, we recreate a winter's social gathering of the Civil War era (1861 - 1865), complete with live period music, beautiful historic clothing, and a sumputous sampling of Victorian desserts and dainties, all held at one of the oldest working opera houses in Ohio, built in 1879. Come early this year to see our special display of ten years' worth of memorabilia and have your portait taken by our photographer. Then dance the night away to the sounds of the Tippecanoe Social Orchestra (formerly The Wind's Dance). All dances are of the 1850 to 1870 period, and are called by dancemaster Jim Ruley. No experience is necessary! Each dance is instructed before they begin. Join us for a toast at midnight, with special music by historian and guitarist Steve Ball. Door prizes will be drawn to round out this celebratory evening of "Old Lange Syne." Period costumes are encouraged, but not required; modern formalwear is acceptable. Soldiers, please refrain from wearing hobnail boots. If this isn't your first ball, we invite you to bring pictues and reminscences of balls past to add to our display for the evening.
