Event description

Description

New Year's Meditation Retreat - A Weekend Retreat with Anam Thubten

There is no Walk-in Registration at this venue. Registration closes Friday morning, Jan. 5.

There are three important aspects of meditation: mindful attention, open awareness and loving kindness. By practicing these, we can let go of negative mental patterns and expand our heart and mind, bringing about joy, peace and inner freedom. Anam Thubten will teach and guide participants in developing these three aspects of meditation and share Buddhist wisdom on working with our thoughts and emotions.

Dharmata Foundation is happy to invite you to participate in this auspicious beginning to the New Year. The retreat will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 6 & 7, 2017, from 10am - 5pm each day, with an ample break for lunch. (Lunch is not provided; there are numerous restaurants in the area.) Please make a commitment to attend the entire retreat.

Costs

Registration for the two-day retreat is $150. Pre-registration is required; click the box in the upper right of this page to register. Payment can be made by credit card or check.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you need financial assistance in order to attend, please contact Diane before registering, and she can discuss options for volunteer service in lieu of full payment.

The retreat fee pays for the rental of the facilty. Dana (a monetary gift) may be offered to the teacher at the retreat.

Volunteers

Holding a retreat outside our normal location depends on the support of many volunteers prior, during, and after the event. Please consider offering your time and good heart to make this event possible. If you would like to volunteer, please indicate how you might help on this sign-up sheet. Simply add your name and contact info; it will be automatically saved, and someone will contact you with more information in December. Thank you.

About the Location

In order to accommodate all those who wish to attend, the retreat will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Berkeley. This historic and spacious hall has a long history of hosting well-known teachers such as the Sixteenth Karmapa, Tai Situ, Chogyam Trungpa, and Dilgo Khyentse. We are happy to be able to use this space again this year.

Please plan to use public transportation such as BART if possible, as parking in downtown Berkeley can be very difficult on weekends.
