About this event
Humanity is being overwhelmed.
Are we living up to the new standard of socio-economic development or rather for it?
The current pandemic has rushed us to embrace what just yesterday we used to call a “Brave New World” and now quickly became Our world, one based on technological structure, digital relations, and data consumerism.
Embracing the new world paradigm without losing control over it can only be done through use of what makes us human: The creative MIND. Let’s look at the ways we can creatively use technology to adapt to the new aC Era.
The casually wasteful culture of material consumption that used to dominate the b.C. (before Corona) economy, in the developed world at least, has gone, as the factors that fuelled consumerism have been eliminated by global preventive measures, hindering globalized travel and communication as well as shipment of containers and so on.
In the a.C. (after Corona) economy, where production of material goods will be extremely limited to the basic needs and wants of the markets, we have to finally embrace sustainability.
It will be a world where almost everything is recycled and reused by someone, where the idea of junk is meaningless. Little will be taken for granted.
It will be a new era of hyper-consumerism of big data.
WELCOME TO THE SMART AGE OF HUMANITY.
If we look around, we are all witnesses to the sunset of the era of industrial and speculative capitalism cultures. While it will take some more time for something new to emerge, current market and governance systems and approaches are showing that they are inadequate to handle any large scale problems.
Industrial culture is good at mass production, but is also wasteful and prone to overproduction. There are enough resources, but not enough will and support for testing ideas that address current and upcoming problems.
While the money used to go towards consumer goods, the governmental and economic efforts have resulted in household spending slowdown. The current global economic crash has, in fact, shown that the market assumptions are somewhat inadequate in pricing assets.
We should come together to test the hypothesis that the market participants and experts may be asking themselves the wrong questions, and possibly theorize the RIGHT QUESTIONS to use.
