New Volunteer Orientation (Kent) Tues., Nov 7, @ 4pm
Tue, November 7, 2017, 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM PST
Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC)
This session is for everyone, age 9 & older, interested in volunteering to help RASKC animals. There are often volunteer opportunities at the following RASKC locations:
In SE King County
In North and East King County: Kirkland
This session will occur if enough people register two days in advance of the session. If not enough people register by that time, you will be sent an email with a notice of cancellation. We hope that doesn't happen!
On the other hand, most sessions "sell out." Because we do not want to exceed the capacity of the room, it is crucial that you register the correct number of people you are attending with. If you will be attending with a family member, for example, you must indicate them in your registration form. Thanks!
Commitment: You are encouraged to attend new volunteer orientation to check out whether or not you’d like to make a commitment to volunteering.
After attending this session, if you would like to make the following commitment and if you are selected to volunteer, you would need to attend additional trainings.
If fostering: To foster several animals during an initial 12-month period. We encourage you to take time off between fostering animals.
- The initial volunteer commitment for most other roles is usually a weekly shift for six months (time off okay for vacations & so forth) or alternating week shifts for 12 months.
Youth: If you are 9- 15 years old, you must be accompanied by your parent/ parent-designated adult guardian to this session, all trainings sessions, and all shifts. The parent/ guardian must also complete an online application and other required paperwork.
If you are 16- 17 years old, your parent/ guardian does not need to be present if they sign and submit the necessary authorizations available at www.kingcounty.gov/RASKCVolunteer
Youth do not work with dogs in Kent in Kent. Okay in Kirkland under certain situations.
School Community Service: RASKC gives credit for school community service.
Court-Ordered Community Service: Not available at partner stores. Not available for working on the Dog Team. For traffic-related and comparable charges only, some opportunities are available at RASKC in Kent.
