Description

Join us for two-part meeting.

1. This hands-on presentation will provide an overview of the Climate Change unit from EDC Earth Science, a high school Earth science program published by Lab-Aids, and will feature the student use of big data to better understand global climate change. Links to the NY NGSS will be discussed. Ocean Tracks, a free resource from the Oceans of Data Institute, the author group behind EDC Earth Science, will also be presented and discussed.Presenter: Mark Koker, Ph D, Chief Academic Officer, Lab-Aids Inc.

2. An in-depth discussion of assessment strategies and concerns related to NGSS/ NYSSLS implementation. We will look at the recommendations of the Science Consortium, Assessment Whitepaper. In addition, we will try some sample tasks from the Achieve project on Task Annotation and see how these tools can serve as a valuable asset in the classroom.
