Description

12/02, 9:00-1:00, 1730 clio st

Part 1: Principles and Ethics

Have you heard the word bandied about but not quite sure what it means? Are you an avid permaculturalist looking for some fresh perspective and hands on subtropical experience in the practices and principles you hold near and dear?

Come to the Urban Farmsteand and join Southbound Gardens and Gene Griffith of the Southern Oregon Permaculture Institute for an introduction to and in depth discussion of the ethics and principles of Permaculture.

12/02, 2:00-5:00, 1730 clio st

Part 2: Guilds, Zones, Harvesting, Seeds

Join us at the Urban Farmstead to discuss the permacultural principals of guilding and zones, or in layman's terms, what plants to plant with what other plants and where best to plant them. But it's about so much more than that! We will also discuss best practices for harvesting food, collecting seed, and storing food and seed.

Gene Griffith of the Southern Oregon Permaculture Institute will be spearheading this hands-on workshop experience with assistants from the boys of Southbound Gardens.

12/03, 9:00-1:00, 3700 Toledano st.

Part 3: Food Forests and Permaculture Planning

Join us at the Southbound Gardens Nursery as we dig deep into food forest concepts. We will focus on perennial growth plans and how to let nature take the lead to provide you with the nutrition you crave while making the world, or at least your little ecosystem a better place.

We'll address best practices for our unique climate as well as more general practices, the power of microclimate awareness, and how to work urban spaces and rural alike on all sorts of scales. We'll also help you develop a plan for your own space!

The workshop will be led by Gene Griffith of the Southern Oregon Permaculture Institute with assistance from the Southbound Gardens guys.

12/03, 2:00-5:00, 3700 Toledano st.

Part 4: Water Management and Aquaculture

Water management is extremely important in this swampy city we've all chosen to call home. Join us for this final installment of our weekend permacuulture workshop to discuss best practices for working with our watery ecosystem and doing your part to make sure that not a drop goes to waste. Flooding is not inevitable! We will also discuss water catchment, aquaculture growing systems and other various permaculturally related waterworks.

Gene Griffith of the Southern Oregon Permaculture Institute, who will be leading this workshop, specializes in aquaculture and water management, so this is a class not to be missed!
