About this event

New Orleans was built on tradition. Join us March 21-25 as we discover some of New Orleans oldest and newest traditions – and make some of our own! History, music, art, culture, food, voodoo; the Big Easy has it all, and we’re going to do our best to see it all.

We will be camping at Bayou Segnette State Park, just a twenty-five minute drive across the Mississippi River to New Orleans. All sites will have water and electrical hook-up, and there is a dump-site, shower, bath facilities and even free laundry on site. Bayou Segnette has something for everyone - fishing, canoeing, hiking, bird-watching, and an ecosystem that shows off plants, trees and wildlife from both swamp and marshland.

History is at the heart of New Orleans, and we will get a chance to walk back in time with a guided tour of Oak Alley, one of south Louisiana’s most famous plantations. We’ll head straight from the plantation to Manchac Swamp, where we’ll take a boat cruise through a privately-owned wildlife refuge and get up close and personal with alligators. We will be picked up and dropped off at our campground for this tour.

Transportation is lined up one day for a stress visit into New Orleans. We have planned an optional guided walking tour of Lafayette Cemetery #1 and the Garden District – with plenty of time left over to explore the town, witness the live music on every street corner, and sample those famous beignets. We’ll cap the weekend off with an authentic crawfish boil at our campground, so you can truly say you’ve had a taste of New Orleans!

Come join us in New Orleans as we kick-off our 2019 Roadtreking adventures!
