Event description

Youth Outside is a national leader in the critical work of supporting people and organizations in creating more inclusive and equitable work environments. We are unique in that we empower those we support to take immediate action and apply learnings in the moment. We seek to strengthen individual, organizational, and field-wide capacity to leverage resources and create empowering environments that authentically welcome and engage all people in culturally relevant ways. We believe that meaningful and lasting organizational change results when equity and inclusion are practiced consistently and intentionally at all levels.

We have heard from our community that there is a desire to have space for non-profit practitioners to explore and begin to dismantle lingering challenges to creating greater equity, inclusion, and cultural relevancy within their organizations.

Based on this desire, we are honored to create and hold space in the form of three distinct, open-enrollment community workshops to be offered in Santa Rosa and San Francisco in 2019.

We look forward to offering this new model, through which we aim to connect and strengthen relationships across multiple organizations facing similar challenges. We’re especially excited to increase access to our trainings by offering them in Santa Rosa and San Francisco this year.

To ensure as broad a range of participation as possible, we ask that no more than three individuals from a single organization register to attend. In the interest of equitable access to continued opportunities, we invite participants for whom registration is cost-prohibitive to e-mail us directly at info@youthoustide.org regarding scholarship opportunities. Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive an e-mail from Youth Outside with location information.

Please consider joining us for the following trainings:

Building Culturally Relevant and Inclusive Programs and Curriculum

Join us for a day-long exploration of centering cultural relevancy and inclusion in curriculum development. During our time together we will dive into common narratives found in programming and curriculum, deconstruct assets-based language, and utilize tools to increase relevancy and inclusion. Introduction to Power, Privilege, and Social Justice

We believe in order to create a more just world, we have to understand power and privilege. Join us as we dig into the roots of power and privilege, explore how to leverage what we find, and utilize tools to build a more equitable, inclusive, and socially just movement.
