Event description

Description

Our native buckwheats bring a range of sizes, forms, and flower colors to the garden, along with myriad pollinators and other beneficial insects.

This lively new course discusses more than a dozen buckwheat (Eriogonum) species well-suited for local gardens, with advice on their uses, placement, irrigation needs, and maintenance. Also included: tips on collecting, cleaning and germinating buckwheat seed, and details on vegetative propagation.

Antonio has worked with native plants and foods for more than a decade and was a lead organizer for the 2015 California Native Food Symposium in Claremont. A veteran of various native plant institutions across the state, including the Theodore Payne Foundation, he was also co-founder of Nopalito Native Plant Nursery in Ventura.
