Event Details

New Kitchens On The Block returns to Mess Hall on Sunday, April 5, 2020. The
seventh edition of the now-biannual food festival offers a one-time only opportunity to savor signature dishes and drinks from 10 of DC’s most hyped new restaurants by the city’s buzziest, award-winningest chefs – before they open.

NKOTB 7’s participants are:

Guests will have the first chance to try City-State Brewing Co., opening down the block from Mess Hall this fall. Founder James Warner will serve the Right Stuff beer, exclusively brewed for New Kitchens On The Block. Easy drinking and designed to pair with a variety of dishes, it’s made with experimental hops, novel yeasts, and unique grains from upstart sources. Another new addition to the event is Brandon Byrd’s eye-catching, vintage vibed Prosecco Van, which will be on hand to serve bubbly. And there will be cocktails galore powered by spirits provided by our generous sponsors – New Columbia Distillers’ Green Hat Gin, El Silencio Mezcal, and One Eight Distilling.

In other egg-citing news, multidisciplinary artist Aphra Adkins will be on hand to showcase an egg-inspired series of works, including a selfie-friendly, Instagram-ready wall installation and a series of photographs.

Washington City Paper dubbed New Kitchens On The Block “the Godzilla of pop-ups,” because the monster-sized line-up never fails to wow. Previous editions gave diners a first taste of Maydan, Spoken English, Call Your Mother, Maialino Mare, the Salt Line, Unconventional Diner, Lucky Buns, Emmy Squared, Cranes, Chloe, Reverie, Coconut Club, Dos Mamis, Piccolina, Colada Shop, Gravitas, Three Blacksmiths, Rasa, and many others.

Watch an exclusive sizzle reel from NKOTB 6 filmed by Mack Ordaya of Imbibe Photography.

Date and time: Sunday, April 5, 2020 for two separate two-hour sessions; 12-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m.
Location: Mess Hall; 703 Edgewood St NE, Washington, DC 20017;
