New Jersey Latino and Hispanic media roundtable
Event Information
Description
Ever since Donald Trump took office in January, those in the media have been scrambling to figure out how to cover the deluge of stories and scoops coming out of the White House. Amidst the chaos, we've been bombarded by executive order after executive order.
“There’s no doubt we are entering a challenging period. The election was divisive and damaging. We saw hate crimes, hateful rhetoric,” Kamal Essaheb told New America Media. Essaheb is the national director of policy and advocacy for the National Immigration Law Center.
New Jersey is home to the largest immigrant population in the country and we boast the most diverse population of any state. But diversity only gets us so far if we don't come together to work toward common goals.
The Center for Cooperative Media is hosting a roundtable and strategy discussion with Hispanic and Latino reporters and publishers from around New Jersey. The goal of this informal event is to identify editorial priorities and concerns of New Jersey's Spanish-language reporting and publishing community. Anyone with an interest or stake the future of Spanish-language media and reporting in the state is invited to attend.
The event will be held in the Escoriaza Room on the 3rd floor of Schmitt Hall at Montclair State Unviersity from 1-4pm.
Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
Space is limited.
