Event description
This summer institute uses inquiry as an approach to teaching ecology, environmental science and STEM concepts in the outdoors.

About this Event

The program offers in-depth experiences that use inquiry as a basis for building effective field studies. We will highlight New Jersey’s natural phenomena and our relationships to the environment. Learning activities are place-based and support student success in demonstrating proficiency with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Science (NJSLS-S). Our focus for the week will be within the Passaic River Watershed.

This summer institute is designed for teachers in grades 6 through 8 and requires a week-long commitment. The course takes place at our Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary in Bernardsville and runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm daily from July 20 to 24, 2020.

Application deadline is April 15, 2020 at 11:00pm. Applicants will be notified of their status and sent an acceptance packet by May 15, 2020.
