Please note the new time and location!

The ability to ship goods and products between New Hampshire and the rest of the world is key to the State’s economy. Please join us for New Hampshire’s First Freight Summit where we will discuss:

  • New Hampshire Freight Plan Overview - New Hampshire's first statewide Freight Plan will help guide investment strategies for how over $4.5 million per year in federal funding will be used to improve freight movement in NH. Weigh in on rail, water, pipeline, airport and roadway freight needs from your perspective while learning about how freight is key to New Hampshire's economy and quality of life.
  • Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) General Updates - Learn about some of the national trends in freight such as the impacts of the widening of the Panama Canal on East Coast ports.
  • New Hampshire Port Updates - 85% of the heating oil used in New Hampshire enters the state through the Port of Portsmouth. Hear an update from the Division of Ports and Harbors, which has plans for some significant investments to upgrade the State's Port facilities.
  • Autonomous Trucks and Connected Trucking - Learn about some of the latest developments in trucking with an update on the development and testing of Autonomous Trucking and Truck Platooning, and connected trucking which has the potential to change the trucking industry significantly.

Freight is key to the $18.9 billion of exports and $24.3 billion of imports for New Hampshire. This two-hour discussion will provide both public-sector and private-sector professionals, with an interest in the future of New Hampshire Freight, an opportunity to hear experts discuss key issues affecting the freight networks.

Registration/Check-in begins at 12:30 PM. The discussion will start promptly at 1:00 PM.

New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NH DOT) is currently developing a Statewide Freight Plan. This strategic planning document will define a short and long-term vision for the freight system in New Hampshire. The Statewide Freight Plan will be multi-modal; including air, pipeline, rail, truck and maritime transport. For more information about this planning process, please visit the project website at https://www.nh.gov/dot/org/projectdevelopment/planning/freight-plan/.
