Description

YOU'RE INVITED!

Join the NEW Food Forum team and New Leaf Foods at a Report Out Gathering of northeast WI's local food system maps. The purpose of the Local Foods Mapping Project and survey is to connect people and organizations who grow and make food locally with those who use, sell, need and want it in our local economy.

Those who are represented on the maps are those entities currently working in our local foods supply chain. Types of entities in the local supply chain are including but not limited to: Growers > Distributors > Retail > Processors > Educators > Restaurants > Institutional Buyers > Farmers Markets > Pantries > Health and Wellness Professionals > Other Advocates...

On the survey, these participants answered:
1. What do you do?
2. Where do you do it?

We'd like to share the map tools that the survey created with anyone and everyone in the community at the Report Out Gathering!

The ultimate goal of the NEW Food Forum and this mapping project is to have a healthy and just local foods system and economy, in which all entities are successful.

Format for the Report Out Gathering: (45 min.)

  1. Hello's from the NEW Food Forum team
  2. Presentation of the maps
  3. Networking time to discover amongst yourselves the connections that can be made from the data
  4. Invitation to stay for another 45 min. for some deeper discussion about foods systems and supply chains, facilitated by Wisconsin food leaders

Hope to see you there. Happy eating!

P.S. To inspire some thought, here are a few examples of how the NEW Food Forum Report Out Gathering can lead to more productive food systems work:
1. A grocery retail meets a producer who can take the green scraps for composting.
2. A farmer finds a pantry that is in a convenient location and will take overages of produce, including seconds and thirds.
3. A producer finds a distributor with accessible, rentable cold-storage.
4. Food waste recovery composting system
5. A preparation facility that wants to connect with local producers.
