Description

Join visiting New Fiction Confab author Nafissa Thompson-Spires for a one-hour writing workshop for kids (grades 3-6) on the art of writing fiction.

ABOUT NAFISSA THOMPSON-SPIRES: Nafissa Thompson-Spires earned a doctorate in English from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Illinois. Her work has appeared in Story Quarterly, Lunch Ticket, and The Feminist Wire, among other publications. She is a 2016 fellow of the Callaloo Writer’s Workshop. Her debut collection, HEADS OF THE COLORED PEOPLE, contains moving, timely, and darkly funny stories that examine the concept of black identity in this so-called post-racial era.

Thompson-Spires will also make an appearance this same day for a series of panel discussions (for adults) with all New Fiction Confab authors at the Central Library beginning at 2:00pm. To learn more about the New Fiction Confab, click here.
