Event Details

The New England Jewish Labor Committee's 19th Annual Labor Seder

Sunday, April 7th, 2019

4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

(4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. schmooze time)

Temple Israel

477 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02215

Join the Greater Boston Jewish and Labor communities to celebrate our shared traditions and strengthen our work together.

Honoring: Rabbi Jill Jacobs, Executive Director of T’ruah, the Rabbinic Call for Human Rights and Brian Doherty, Secretary Treasurer/General Agent of the Metro Building Trades Council

Recognizing: Donald Siegel, our outgoing Co-Chair of the NE JLC; Marya Axner who is stepping down as Executive Director of the NE JLC; the UNITE HERE, Local 26 Marriott hotel workers for their historic victory after a six-week strike; and the National Grid United Steel Workers, Locals 12003 and 12012 who won a contract after being locked out of their jobs for 6 months.

The Jewish tradition obligates us to relive the Exodus and liberation story of Passover in every generation. The Labor Seder is a unique interfaith opportunity through which labor and Jewish community leaders and activists continue to build bridges. We hope that you will join us at the table to learn more about struggles of working people in Greater Boston, the heightened challenges we need to face together, and how to get involved, while rejoicing with us in the ancient and hopeful holiday of Passover.

Gold Sponsors: New England Regional Council of Carpenters, UNITE HERE

Silver Co-Sponsor: Massachusetts Teachers Association

Co-sponsors: JCRC of Greater Boston, Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, Massachusetts Board of Rabbis, Moishe Kavod House, Nehar Shalom Community Synagogue, Boston Workmen's Circle

Kosher dinner will be served.
