Event description

Description

The New England Comparative Effectiveness Public Advisory Council (CEPAC), a core program of the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER), will hold a public meeting on November 8, 2018 to review evidence on medications for addiction treatment in opioid use disorder.

A 2014 ICER review assessed medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with methadone or buprenorphine-containing agents (Subutex®, Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals Inc.; Suboxone®, Indivior Inc.); dose-tapering strategies for methadone or Suboxone, with or without naltrexone (Revia®, Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Vivitrol®, Alkermes, Inc.); use of naltrexone alone without prior stabilization on methadone or buprenorphine; and drug-free opioid withdrawal management.

The 2018 report will review buprenorphine subcutaneous extended-release injection (Sublocade®, Indivior), buprenorphine implant (Probuphine®, Braeburn/Titan), buprenorphine subcutaneous extended-release injection (CAM2038, Braeburn), and naltrexone intramuscular extended-release injection (Vivitrol®, Alkermes) for addiction treatment in opioid use disorder.

A list of key dates for stakeholder engagement opportunities and other important information associated with the review of MAT for opioid use disorder can be found on ICER's website at https://icer-review.org/topic/opioid-dependence/.
