Description

Creating Custom Charts, Graphics and Icons with Adobe Illustrator

Wed. Jan 24th 10am- 4pm- Room 438 - Amanda Shendruk

This six-hour session will be an introduction to basic Adobe Illustrator skills. At the end of the course, students will be able to create simple vector icons, build and style a variety of basic charts and graphs, create easy social media sells, and understand how to optimize and export everything for use on various digital platforms.

Amanda Shendruk is an award-winning visual journalist and data visualization expert. She has worked as a graphics journalist at the Pulitzer-award-winning Guardian and led data visualization efforts at Canada’s largest news magazine, Maclean’s Magazine. She is currently head of data visualization at the Council on Foreign Relations, working with academics to make complex foreign policy concepts accessible to a wider audience. Interested in the data as much as the visualization, Amanda has held both public and workshops teaching the process of creating compelling and accurate visualizations for a variety of audiences.
