The Office of Violence Against Women, in collaboration with the Center for Court Innovation, will host the New Grantee Orientation Meeting for Court Training and Improvements Program (Courts Program) on January 9, 2013 at 8 AM to January 11, 2013 at 12 PM. This two and half-day orientation will cover valuable information about project development, grant reporting and data collection requirements, and introduce you and your project team to the resources available from the OVW-designated Technical Assistance Providers. In addition, you will have the opportunity to observe the Jefferson Circuit Court and hear from a number of court staff and stakeholders about their response to domestic violence.
Hotel rooms are reserved for participants on the nights of January 8, 9, and 10 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky. All costs associated with travel and lodging should be covered by your Courts Program grant funds. Once you register for a hotel room, we will provide a list of names to the Marriott, but each grantee team pays for their own room and airfare. The Marriott is located in the heart of downtown Louisville, where a number of options for food will be available to you during lunch breaks and before and after orientation sessions. For information on per diem meal and incidental allowances in Louisville, please see the General Services Administration website here: http://www.gsa.gov/portal/category/100120.
Attendance is mandatory for all Fiscal Year 2012 Courts Program Grantees. We encourage grantees to bring a team that is representative of who will be responsible for implementing the grant activities. Grantees with development projects are to send their project coordinator, judicial officer responsible for implementing the project, and up to two members of their planning team. Grantees with supplemental training projects should send their project coordinator and the judicial officer responsible for implementing the project. In the past, sites have come with a team that includes a judge, a court administrator, a court coordinator, and a stakeholder representative (such as an advocate, probation officer, prosecutor, or civil attorney). For sites that have renewal grants, please consider sending project staff who have not attended a Courts Program New Grantee Orientation meeting in previous years.
This orientation meeting is supported by Grant No. 2011-TA-AX-KO32 awarded by the Office of Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice. The opinions of speakers and presenters do not necessarily reflect the views of the Office of Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.
