Description

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO New Bridges for Haitian Success's 2nd Annual Fundraising Dinner to support the Haitian community in Rhode Island.

New Bridges for Haitian Success (NB4HS) prides itself as a beacon for the Haitian community in the state of Rhode Island. We work to improve the living conditions in the southeastern part of Haiti through education. In Rhode Island, we focus on helping the community to navigate the United States legal system through social services, training, and educational workshops.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Lt. Governor Dan McKee

NB4HS 2018 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER

  • Jephte Wagnac, MVP Indoor/Outdoor Athlete 2017/2018

Your sponsorship will help Rhode Island-based Haitian youths receive 2018 Scholarship Awards of Recognition from New Bridges for Haitian Success and support our educational programming and health sessions as well. It will also help youths back in Haiti by sending more children to school (including providing scholarships, uniforms, shoes, notebooks, and teaching materials) and by providing much-needed medical supplies that are more important than ever.

AWARD RECIPIENTS:

  • Congressman Jim Langevin
  • Grace Gonzalez
  • Steve Ahlquist, Uprise RI
  • Cheryl Burell, RI Department of Administration

GUEST SPEAKERS:

  • Peter M. Marino, CEO Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island
  • Alan Rosenberg, Executive Editor The Providence Journal
  • Christopher N. Maher, Superintendent Providence Public Schools
  • Jim Vincent, President of the NAACP Providence Branch

We have a strong track record of proven successes, accountability, and in the past five years, with limited financial and logistical means, we have been able to establish and maintain a strong, reliable partnership with the Haitian community of Belle-Anse (a town of 158,000 citizens, 1 doctor, and 2 nurses). After the devastation of Hurricane Matthew, we were able (due to the generosity of the Rhode Island community) to provide much needed food and supplies to those affected by the disaster. Please see VIDEO: NB4HS distributed hundreds of supplies or Youtube New Bridges for Haitian Success)

We are in the process of BUILDING a medical clinic to help alleviate the strain in Belle-Anse, which currently only has one clinic available. In contrast, our local Providence, Rhode Island community (a city of 179,219 citizens) has access to more than a DOZEN clinics and hospitals, not including access to private care.

We could not have done any of this without the compassion and sustained support of the local Rhode Island community. We ask that you consider joining us for this very important event.

An article written by Providence Journal Veteran and Roger Williams University Director of Media, Edward Fitzpatrick, wrote an article highlighting the contribution of Founder and Executive Bernard Georges and fellow members of the NB4HS during the hurricane relief trip.

In his interview with Le-Point Television Métropole , one of the most respected television stations in Haiti, Georges states that he would like to send more children to school but he is limited with his resources.
