About this event
New Beginnings is a program providing technical training and education to students recently released from incarceration or who are soon to be released. It is funded through the Texas Workforce Commission Wagner-Peyser grant and conducted by Alvin Community College and Lee College.

As part of the statewide Texas Workforce Solutions network, we partner with the Texas Workforce Commission and other workforce boards in the largest job-matching database in the state--WorkInTexas.com.
Workforce Solutions is funded by state and federal tax-dollars that are redirected back into the Gulf Coast region. We do not charge for our services.
In 2012, Workforce Solutions provided:
- Employment services to 410,871 individuals
- Business services to 22,962 employers
- Outplacement services to 60 employers that had to downsize or close their businesses
- Outplacement services to 5,300 workers who lost their jobs
- Financial aid totaling more than $132+ million for job training, child care assistance and job related support services
- Financial aid that benefited a daily average of 24,596 children
