Join us for a day with Dr. Louis Cozolino!

 

Do a deep dive into the neuroscience behind effective psychotherapy with Dr. Louis Cozolino. Go beyond an understanding of relational neuroscience and its importance during the therapy hour, and learn to translate cutting-edge science into real-world intervention.  Using case studies, Dr. Cozolino will illustrate how relational neuroscience can drive clinical assessment, treatment planning, and interventions for effective therapeutic change. The day is primed to help our community move beyond the basics of Interpersonal Neurobiology through the use of multiple interactive Q & A sessions to make scientific principles come alive. 

 

Dr. Cozolino has diverse clinical and research interests, and holds degrees in philosophy, theology, and clinical psychology. His current interests are in the areas of the synthesis of neuroscience with psychotherapy, education, management, and leadership. He is the author of seven books The Neuroscience of Psychotherapy, The Social Neuroscience of Education, The Neuroscience of Human Relationships, Timeless, Attachment-Based Teaching, Why Therapy Works and The Making of a Therapist. He has also authored and co-authored research articles and book chapters on child abuse, schizophrenia, language and cognition. Dr. Cozolino lectures around the world on brain development, evolution, and psychotherapy and maintains clinical and consulting practices in Los Angeles ang New York.

 

In this workshop:
 
1. Participants will come to understand the mechanisms of action that convert childhood experiences into the structures and functions of the brain. 
 
2. Participants will be able to assess a client’s behaviors and attitudes to develop hypotheses about how their brains are organized.
 
3. Participants will apply the research in the epigenetics of trauma to shape their treatment in ways which are more beneficial to their clients.
 
4. Participants will learn to utilize the principles of arousal and neuroplasticity to improve the delivery and success of treatment. 
 
5. Participants will learn how to apply a neurobiological perspective and current research to their clinical case conceptualizations. 

6. Participants will come to appreciate and apply knowledge of social brain networks to enhance their therapeutic work.
