DAY1: NETWORK FUNDAMENTALS AND SWITCHES

Morning

  • Bandwidth, throughput and terminology: Here you’re lean the concept of bandwidth versus throughput. You’ll be able to understand the specification of a networked product by reading the relevant information, such as the technology in use.
  • Twisted pair: You’ll learn all you need to know about the twisted pair cable (categories, isolation, connectors, pinout, cross or straight cable, MDI/MDIX)
  • Fiber optic: You’ll learn all you need to know about the fiber optics (categories, connectors, distances, wavelength, throughput, power budget)
  • Transmission modes: You’ll be explained the differences between simplex, half duplex and full duplex, and the importance of such mode on a network.
  • Physical topologies: You’ll learn the most common physical topologies to interconnect your equipment within your network.
  • Casting: You’ll learn the major differences between unicast, broadcast and multicast, and the challenges you can face when using these transmission schemes.
  • IP address: You’ll learn all what you need to know about IP addresses (what is an IP address, the role of the subnet mask, the network address, the broadcast address, the classes, the CIDR notation).

Lunch Break

  • Lunch is provided by Luminex.

Afternoon

  • GigaCore switches, the range: You’ll learn the differences between the models.
  • Web interface: You’ll learn how to access the web interface, and you’ll be introduced to the different menus.
  • We’ll make a point about the different solutions to create a redundant audio network, such as Dante. This will introduce the concept of redundancy and groups within a network.
  • We’ll make a point about the different solutions to create a redundant lighting network. This will introduce the concept of redundancy and groups within a network.
  • RlinkX: Link redundancy made easy. Here you’ll learn how to create link redundancy within your network. - Groups: the concept of VLAN in details, and how to set it up.
  • QoS: the concept of Quality of Service
  • PtP (Precision Time Protocol): You’ll learn why you need it, especially in audio application.
  • IGMP Snooping: You’ll learn how IGMP snooping works, and why it’s fundamental when working with multicast based protocols.
  • MultiLinkX: the benefit of link aggregation of loaded network.
  • Offline Editor: Presentation of the software. You’ll learn how to create a profile for a GigaCore switch.





DAY 2: LIGHTING PROTOCALS, CONVERTERS AND SPLITTERS

Morning

  • Decimal and Hexadecimal: Here you’ll learn the basics of Decimal and Hexadecimal for a better understanding of the ArtNet protocol
  • Lighting protocols: Here you’ll learn about the 4 different revision of the Art-Net protocol, as an overview of the sACN protocol
  • Transmission scheme: Here you’ll learn how the above-mentioned protocols use the different transmission scheme such as Unicast, Multicast and Broadcast.
  • Converters: Presentation of the different models of the Luminex Ethernet-DMX converters
  • Web interface: Here you’ll be introduced to the Ethernet-DMX converter web interface. You’ll be able to browse through the different menus, to discover all the functionalities of a converter

Lunch Break

  • Lunch is provided by Luminex

Afternoon

  • Real cases applications: Following some examples, you’ll be taught how to configure a converter to create some specific scenario (Input box, output box, HTP/LTP merging, Trigger/Cross-Fade between two sources, Rerouting …)
  • Offline Editor: You’ll learn how to create a profile for the Ethernet-DMX converter
  • LumiNet Monitor: You’ll get a comprehensive review of the software, and a detail explanation of each available widget.
  • RDM: You’ll get an overview of how RDM works within a lighting network
  • LumiSplit: You’ll be introduced to the LumiSplit range, and you’ll discover the possibilities of remote control/monitoring over a RDM network
